Nice, the city of France
Nice is a city located in the Alpes Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in France on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. People often ad to its name the word “Beautiful” and say “Nice the Beautiful” (Nissa la Bella). With the population of about 350,000 Nice is the largest city of the Côte d'Azur and the fifth populated city in the whole France. The population of the agglomeration in total reaches nearly million people.
Nice leads it history since the Prehistoric times, but the city itself was founded by the Greeks nearly 350 B.C. During the history the city was a part of different states. France finally acquired Nice in 1860 and before it for years was an Italian territory. Today Nice is the most popular French resort area and the second visited city in the country after its capital.
